Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), in partnership with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) and the Independent Producers’ Organisation (South Africa), recently held an online forum on “Content Distribution Platforms And OTT Streaming Services”.
During the conversation, Gary Whitaker, the Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Research Council of South Africa, noted that collaborations are vital in establishing the fundamental strategies that would aid the development of broadcasting organisations’ fair trade for advertising space revenue. This comes after Whitaker was asked to share models and techniques that broadcasters could adopt to fund audience rating surveys.
Whitaker further noted that, for the strategy to work, all broadcasters need to organise themselves and work together towards a common goal of having a balanced trade currency. Finally, the Chief Executive Officer remarked that the broadcasters need to agree on a funding model that enables all broadcasters to market their offerings to advertisers.
Gary Whitaker participated in a panel discussion “Evaluating The Relationships Between Audience Usage Data And Responsive Content Production And Distribution In Africa”.
