South Africa: Revolutionising Community Radio Advertising
News & Reports

MediaHeads 360 has partnered with Media Host to transform community radio advertising across South Africa. This initiative introduces advanced monitoring technology to community radio stations, offering advertisers reliable proof that their ads are aired as intended. The collaboration is set to bolster advertiser confidence, elevate station credibility, and enhance revenue for community broadcasters.

Community radio stations have historically struggled to provide advertisers with real-time proof of airtime due to their reliance on internet-based streaming services, which can often face interruptions. Media Host’s new recording devices address this challenge, ensuring accountability.

“Community radio is crucial to South Africa’s media landscape, yet it has often faced significant accountability hurdles,” said Candy Dempers, managing director at MediaHeads 360. “Our partnership with Media Host bridges this gap by equipping stations with tools that ensure transparency while preserving their vital connection to local audiences.”

This partnership allows for 100% accurate records of aired content, empowering community radio stations to demonstrate full transparency to advertisers. The initiative has already been launched with a select group of stations and plans to expand to more facilities in the coming months. “Advertisers need trust and accountability,” said Antonio Chetty, business development manager at Media Host. “With this technology, we can provide them that assurance while opening new station revenue opportunities.”

Moreover, this collaboration enhances the community radio sector, granting advertisers access to verification reports confirming their campaigns reach intended audiences. For community stations, this technology elevates their standing, making them more appealing to brands seeking reliable media partners. It also creates a more level playing field, allowing smaller broadcasters to compete for advertising revenues typically directed to larger commercial entities.

This initiative marks a significant step towards a more transparent radio advertising ecosystem in South Africa, establishing accountability and performance benchmarks within community broadcasting. As MediaHeads 360 and Media Host continue to expand their efforts, they aim to support the sustainability of local media while championing innovative solutions that benefit advertisers and community stations alike.
