The Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF), a prestigious event in the film industry, is excited to announce the opening of submissions for its fourth edition. Scheduled from December 5 to 14, 2024, in the culturally rich and historically significant district of Al Balad, Jeddah, the festival extends a warm invitation to filmmakers, producers, and distributors from Saudi Arabia, Africa, Asia, and the Arab world to submit their films.

Submissions are welcome until August 22, with an early bird submission period closing on July 5. By submitting early, filmmakers can take advantage of the evolving film industry across these regions and have their work considered for the Competition strands in both the Red Sea: Competition and the Red Sea: Shorts Competition sections. Additionally, the festival features the New Saudi/New Cinema section for both feature films and shorts, spotlighting emerging filmmakers and artists from Saudi Arabia.

Contenders in the competition will vie for the esteemed Yusr Awards, including the Red Sea Golden Yusr Award for Best Film in Competition, which includes a cash prize of $100,000. Notably, the 2023 Golden Yusr was bestowed upon Zarrar Kahn’s debut feature, In Flames.

Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of Red Sea Film Foundation, expressed, ā€œWe are immensely proud to provide an inclusive and diverse platform, offering opportunities for established and emerging filmmakers to showcase their work. A core value of the Foundation is that this platform remains accessible to all. We are delighted to offer an early bird period with no fee for submitting work for consideration. We eagerly anticipate the entries and the opportunity to come together in December to celebrate the inspiring and vibrant projects from Saudi Arabia, Africa, Asia and the Arab World at our highly anticipated fourth edition.ā€

Projects can be submitted at no cost during the early bird submission phase. Submissions will incur a regular fee starting on July 6, with a fee of US$26.66 for shorts and US$53.33 for features.
