Zambia has recently announced its plan to invest a significant amount of US$58 million in the technology sector by the year 2024.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Felix Mutati, made the announcement during an event that recognized and celebrated women in the information technology industry.
He proudly stated that this investment is higher than most of their neighbouring countries and highlighted that it is a positive indication of the right steps being taken by the tech industry.
During the She In Tech Recognition Awards, Mutati confirmed the government’s decision to remove all 2G network towers this year.
This policy will be enforced by the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority, ensuring that all towers are upgraded to meet the latest technological standards.
This investment and policy change are positive steps towards improving connectivity in the country and promoting further growth in the technology sector.
