MTN Nigeria has announced a collaboration with automobile manufacturers Nord and GAC Motors to enhance its local content policy and support for Nigerian-made products.

The telecom giant emphasised that these vehicles are vital tools to improve customer interactions by enabling more efficient field operations.

In July 2021, the Nigerian Communications Commission established the Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecoms Sector, which aims to promote local content within the telecommunications industry by the Nigerian National Local Content Policy.

MTN highlighted that its initiatives in local content development align with national objectives, supporting the federal government’s digital and financial inclusion goals.

At the vehicle handover ceremony held at MTN’s headquarters in Lagos, Lynda Saint Nwafor, the company’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, spoke about the partnership’s importance in reinforcing MTN’s local content policies.

“MTN is committed to fostering local content development in Nigeria by enabling local supply chains through our procurement processes,” Nwafor remarked.

She also addressed past logistical challenges, noting, “We faced some difficulties in the logistics model we initially planned to implement, which led us to return to an older model. This approach enables our sales and client success teams to travel more effectively to engage with customers.”

With over 80 million subscribers, MTN Nigeria emphasises its commitment to creating shared value and contributing positively to the country’s sustainable and inclusive development.
