Netflix South Africa is set to premiere its second Afrikaans drama series, “Tuiskoms,” on February 28. Produced by Infinity Films, this series marks the final on-screen appearance of actress Michelle Botes, who sadly passed away in December 2024.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Wilderness, “Tuiskoms” stars Amalia Uys in the lead role of Fleur, a widowed chef. This romantic drama series consists of seven episodes and follows “Ludik,” the crime series released in 2022.
In “Tuiskoms,” Michelle Botes portrays Abigail, Fleur’s mother. Filming took place in mid-2024, with Louis Pretorius and Albert Snyman serving as co-producers. The series is directed by Nina Swart, who also worked with Louis Pretorius as the head writer.
The story centres on Fleur, who returns to her mother Abigail’s home in the Wilderness, where she embarks on a new chapter of her life at a flower shop and discovers new love.
The cast of “Tuiskoms” features Armand Aucamp as Werner, with Pierre van Pletzen, Rika Sennett, David Minnaar as Jonathan, and Catona James as Evan. Other notable cast members include Jane de Wet as Kelly, Marvin-Lee Beukes as Michael, Hendrik Nieuwoudt as Sean, and Anathi Rubela as Gift.
In a recent announcement, Netflix unveiled “Tuiskoms” along with other upcoming South African content as part of its global offering for 2025.
