Broadcast Media Africa has learnt that Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has appointed Keith Le Goy as the chairman of Sony Pictures Television (SPT). Le Goy, who previously served as chairman of Worldwide Distribution and Networks at SPE, steps into the role following Ravi Ahuja’s promotion to President and CEO of SPE last year after Tony Vinciquerra’s unexpected departure.
Le Goy, a 25-year veteran of the company, brings extensive experience in international TV distribution. In his new position, he will oversee all domestic and international television production, alongside managing sales of Sony’s shows to broadcasters and streamers globally. His portfolio has included overseeing Sony’s cable networks in Europe and Latin America and securing major distribution deals for iconic series like Seinfeld and film output agreements with Netflix and Disney. He has also played a pivotal role in developing Sony’s local-language productions in Latin America.
Having joined Sony in 1999 as Senior Vice President of European Distribution, Le Goy previously worked at Disney before ascending through Sony’s ranks, including serving as President of Distribution for SPT.
Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, will report to Le Goy and take on additional responsibilities during the leadership transition.
Ahuja said: “Keith has a remarkable track record at SPE, both in distribution and the businesses he has led. He is strategic, growth-oriented, and has a razor-sharp mind. As a close partner in our TV business, I have seen firsthand that he is a fantastic colleague. I look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
Le Goy added: “It is a privilege to take the helm of the television group at this transformative time in the industry. Thanks to Ravi and our incredible teams, SPT is well-positioned to lead and build upon our rich legacy in this evolving and dynamic marketplace. I am invigorated by the opportunities ahead.”
