MultiChoice and M-Net have announced an exciting new lineup of Nigerian programming for their Africa Magic channels on DStv. Set to launch in early 2025, this slate includes five brand-new shows, highlighting a gripping school hostage drama alongside a captivating fantasy warrior series.
One of the series, “Uriri,” debuted on December 30 and is classified as a fantasy drama. This 39-episode series follows the journey of Ogaga, a legendary warrior who faces his destiny and grapples with darkness while being haunted by the very source of his strength. His life takes a turn when he meets a young woman named Serome. “Uriri” airs on Africa Magic Showcase from Mondays to Wednesdays, featuring a talented cast that includes Seun Ajayi, Frank Konwea, Osarehia Oronsaye, and Bobby Ekpe, with Xavier Ighorodje serving as both showrunner and executive producer.
Another new addition is “PTA,” which tells the story of a teacher named Kennedy. After a series of unfortunate events, Kennedy makes the drastic choice to hold hostage attendees of a parent-teacher meeting. This 25-episode series will air on Africa Magic Showcase on Thursdays and Fridays, directed by Reuben Reng and starring Levi Chikere, Segun Arinze, Eric Obinna, Dorin Oyesanya, and Jsmile Uhuru.
Additionally, there’s “Inu Jin,” airing on Africa Magic Yoruba, with episodes available on Saturdays and Sundays, though specific details from MultiChoice are currently unavailable. Another new series titled “Obi Di Omim” will premiere on Africa Magic Igbo, but MultiChoice hasn’t provided further information.
Busola Tejumola, MultiChoice’s head of content and channels for West Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to showcasing the best African storytelling. In a press release, she remarked, “Every year, we’re dedicated to delivering compelling narratives to our audience, and this year is no exception.
