Four new Arabic originals will be released on Netflix in the coming months.
The season starts with the release of the documentary series Saudi Pro League: Kickoff, which charts the league’s growth. According to Netflix, it will be replete with “drama, passion and action,” along with appearances by international players, as well as local stars Salem Al Dawsari, Feras Al Buraikan, Talal Haji, and Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
The docuseries, scheduled to be released on November 21, 2024, will also feature interviews with managers and commentators.
Egyptian drama series Echoes of the Past will premiere on December 6, 2024. The suspenseful drama stars Asser Yassin and Huda El Mufti.
Next up is In the Sand Castle, directed by Matty Brown. It features a stellar Arab cast, including Labaki, Ziad Bakri, Zain, and Riman Al Rafeea. The series follows the story of a family stranded on an idyllic but eerie island. As the dark reality about the island emerges, the family tries to keep these shocking secrets from their youngest member, Jana.
“As events spiral out of control and the line between reality and fiction blurs, the family is forced to confront harsh truths and difficult choices, testing their resilience and hopes of making it back home,” the thriller’s synopsis reads. The Sand Castle is slated for release on January 24, 2025.
The lineup also includes the second season of The Exchange. The show was critically acclaimed for its depiction of the stock market in 1980s Kuwait, drawing inspiration from the true story of two women who proved themselves in the cutthroat business. The series stars Rawan Mahdi and Mona Hussain, Hussain Almahdi, Mohammed Al Mansour, and Faisal Alamiri. The Exchange is due to be released next year; however, a date has yet to be finalised.
