Organisers of the forthcoming Broadcasters Convention Africa – 2024 (8th edition), convened on the 8th – 10th October 2024 by the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) and Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and hosted by the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) at the Swakopmund Legacy Hotel in Swakopmund, Namibia will gather senior industry leaders and executives from across Africa and beyond to explore the latest advancements in broadcasting with a focus on Africa’s media readiness for AI.

Regarding the event’s focus, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa (and event co-convener), said, “Across the world, traditional broadcasting models are gradually being replaced with AI-powered media innovation. This shift is dramatically altering how media is created, distributed, and consumed. Thus, Africa’s broadcasters and media professionals must seek to stay ahead of the curve. This key industry meeting aims to highlight how to achieve that.

Also commenting, Mr Stanley B. Similo, the Director General of the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and President of the Southern Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABA) expressed his delight in being both the Host and the Co-Convener of this flagship event for Broadcasters on the continent.

He said, “We are thrilled to welcome broadcasters across Africa and the World to Namibia for this important convention.”

“As we embrace AI technologies, it’s crucial that we do so responsibly and clearly understand the opportunities and challenges they present. I hope the event will provide a platform for meaningful discussions on how we can harness AI to enhance our broadcasting capabilities while maintaining the integrity and quality of our content.” Similo added.
