Samsung Gulf Electronics has announced the launch of Samsung TV Plus in the UAE. This free ad-supported TV (FAST) and video service offers a wide range of live channels and content across genres such as news, sports, and entertainment on the Samsung TV platform.

Initially launched globally in 2015, Samsung TV Plus comes pre-installed on Samsung TVs from 2016 onwards. With this new launch, the service will be available on Samsung TV models from 2022 to 2024 in the UAE, with plans to expand to 2020 and 2021 models soon. Samsung TV users in the UAE can now access various entertainment, drama and lifestyle channels for free. The service starts with 20 channels, with more to be added in the coming months.

Speaking about the launch, Nikola Aksentijevic, Director and Head of the Visual Display Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said: “We’re excited to introduce Samsung TV Plus to our valued customers in the UAE. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey to bring premium, free entertainment to the region. Our vision is to build a platform that truly resonates with our Gulf audience. To achieve this, we welcome all content partners and providers to join us in this effort as we curate a diverse array of content that reflects viewers’ unique tastes and preferences in the UAE and beyond.”

The service will feature top local and globally localised content across five genres: Entertainment, Drama, Natural History, Lifestyle, and Kids. It will include 12 Arabic, four English, and four English channels with Arabic subtitles. Among the content partners are MBC’s Shahid, Zee Entertainment, BBC Studios, Nature Time, and Blue Ant Media, which will provide a variety of channels tailored to Gulf audiences.

Key features of Samsung TV Plus include a premium position within the first screen launcher, a user-friendly interface that operates like traditional broadcast channels, and a dedicated landing page for optimised content discovery. Users can mark their favourite channels and read information about live shows, channels, and upcoming programming. A right-to-left user interface is also available for Arabic users, ensuring a curated experience for the MENA audience.
