The 8th Broadcast and Digital Media Convention, convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), is a pivotal event in the media industry calendar. Hosted this year by the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation and co-located with the 31st AGM  for the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), the convention is a dynamic platform for showcasing the latest innovations in broadcast and digital media technologies.

The 8th Broadcast and Digital Media Convention, an exclusive opportunity for industry leaders, innovators, and professionals from the broadcast and digital media sectors, will take place from 08 – 10 October 2024 in the beautiful city of Swakopmund, Namibia. This event is a gathering and a platform that ignites collaboration, inspires innovation and provides a space for discussing the industry’s latest trends, technologies, and challenges.

Commenting on this, Mr Stanely Benjamin Similo, President of SABA and Director General of NBC, said, “The primary importance of this convention lies in its role as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration. The event fosters an environment where new ideas can flourish by bringing together broadcasters, digital media experts, policymakers, and technologists. This cross-pollination of ideas is vital for developing innovative solutions that can address the unique challenges faced by the media industry in Namibia and, indeed, the rest of Africa and beyond.”

Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of BMA and the convention co-convener, said: “The 8th Broadcast and Digital Media Convention hosted by the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation is more than just an industry event; it is a cornerstone for developing and advancing the media sector in Africa. By addressing innovations such as AI and blockchain and the effect on the broadcast media industry on the continent, the convention plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of media in Africa”.

This convention will serve as a vibrant platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring new business opportunities. It will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions designed to foster collaboration and inspire innovative solutions. Policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders will engage in dialogue to shape policies that foster growth and support innovation and sustainable development in the broadcasting and digital media sectors.
