Multichoice has recently announced an update to the subscription prices for its popular DSTV and GoTV services in Kenya. Effective April 1, viewers will need to make room in their budgets for the new rates to continue accessing their favourite television and streaming content.
As outlined in a recent statement, the adjustment is a response to the changing economic landscape. Multichoice has cited the ‘economic outlook’ as the primary reason for the updated pricing structure.
Despite the company’s efforts to keep the increases minimal, subscribers across various packages will see changes in their monthly payments.
The new pricing tiers for DSTV users are as follows: Lite packages will now cost US$0.58, marking a US$0.38 increase. Family package subscribers will encounter a US$1.13 hike, with the new rate at US$15.10. Compact and Compact Plus users will see their rates increase by US$1.51 and US$2.26 to settle at US$27.93 and US$49.06, respectively.
Premium subscribers face the highest increase of US$4.53, pushing their monthly bill to US$79.26. The XtraView option will remain at US$11.32.
GoTV subscribers are also affected, with adjustments made across the board.
DSTV and GoTV offer various channels covering news, sports, children’s programming, entertainment, and audio content. DSTV provides access to over 165 channels.
