El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) has announced that it is now accepting submissions for its seventh edition. The submission window officially opens today, April 15, 2024, and will remain accessible until July 15, 2024.

The seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, scheduled against the backdrop of El Gouna, will occur from October 24 to November 1, 2024. Filmmakers eager to participate can access the entry form and detailed submission guidelines on the festival’s official website.

An array of opportunities awaits the selected films, which will compete for the El Gouna Star awards and a substantial cash prize of $234,000. These competitions span across the Feature Narrative, Feature Documentary, and Short Film categories. Additionally, films delving into humanitarian themes stand a chance to contend for the Cinema for Humanity Audience Award, while those addressing environmental concerns can vie for the El Gouna Green Star Award.

Marianne Khoury, Artistic Director of GFF, said: “Each year, we’re captivated by the creativity and passion showcased by filmmakers. Our film submissions have risen remarkably, climbing from around 400 in 2017 to over 1400 entries in 2023. We look forward to continuing our quest to discover cinematic gems, new voices, and diverse perspectives in cinema.”

Apart from the riveting film screenings, GFF promises an array of industry events, networking opportunities, and panel discussions designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences alike.

Amr Mansi, Executive Director of GFF, added: “As a premier platform for celebrating outstanding cinematic achievements, the El Gouna Film Festival meticulously curates diverse, compelling films from among the entries we receive. Through our film screenings and industry events, we aim to cultivate a vibrant community of storytellers and film enthusiasts who share a passion for the transformative power of cinema. We are firmly committed to fostering connections among professionals from the local, regional, and international industries, enriching the collective experience for all.”

In recent years, GFF has solidified its position as a beacon of artistic brilliance in the region, garnering increasing support from the cinematic community and industry professionals worldwide. The festival’s growing number of submissions continues to contribute to its cinematic tapestry and expanding influence, reaffirming its status as a prominent fixture on the global film festival circuit.
