Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) recently conducted a detailed industry survey on The State Of Play for OTT Streaming And VOD Business In Africa. The study that this platform has been performing on an annual basis for the past three years has, on this occasion, thrown up some insights into how African broadcasters and content publishers see the OTT streaming and VOD play within their business.
One of the key highlights from the survey is that many African broadcasters are still looking at and exploring the potential benefits of having their own OTT Content Streaming play. Our survey revealed that 65% of the African industry is in that position.
The BMA’s OTT industry survey also gave insight into the market situation for even those who have already rolled out their own content streaming services. The survey indicated pricing mechanisms, user profiles, monetisation models and future expectations.
This industry survey indicates that stakeholders and players must navigate the opportunities (and challenges) with innovative solutions to cater to the unique demands of the African market.
