Broadcast Media Africa sat down with Engr. Edward Amana, the Chairman of DigiTeam Nigeria, under the #IndustryLeadersSpeak series, which is a collection of conversations with key industry leaders within the broadcasting and media industry across the African continent.
In unpacking the strides taken by the DigiTeam towards successfully migrating the Nigerian broadcasting landscape from analogue to digital, Broadcast Media Africa asked the Chairman of DigiTeam Nigeria to articulate the reasons behind Nigeria’s delay in its digitisation efforts.
According to Engr Amana, the seemingly slow digital transformation of the Nigeria Broadcasting infrastructure and services is due, in the main, to the fact that the Nigerian DigiTeam was launched and put into operation without any clear-cut funding plan and invariably with little or no sustained and sustainable funding or financial support.
Established in 2012, DigiTeam Nigeria is the task force set up by the Nigerian government to coordinate the country’s migration from analogue to digital broadcasting.
