African broadcasters need to broaden their view, think and implement broadcasting policies that are beyond the national perspective. Telcos pose a risk to the future of microscopic broadcasting systems, and broadcasters need to guard against this takeover. According to Prof. Alhassan, because telcos are the most prominent upcoming competition for broadcasters, the African Union platform should be utilised to create an advantage.
Speaking with Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), under the “#IndustryLeadersSpeak” series, Prof. Amin Alhassan emphasised the threat posed to traditional broadcasting, stating that the future of the media space is in motion. Furthermore, the Professor anticipates that OTT Streaming Services will grow to become the prefered method of media consumption across the continent.
