
Nigeria’s Nollywood has been categorised as the second most prolific creative industry after the U.S Hollywood. Moreover, according to recent research for 2020-2024, Nollywood is one of the fast-growing creative industries in the world.
Research also indicated that even as Nigeria’s television and video market grew by 7.49% in 2021, poor infrastructure issues and funding related problems posed various challenges for local content development, production and distribution.
This led to the industry battling with securing enough funding to complete creative projects. This has led to an industry cry on solutions for “Appropriate Funding Infrastructure For Local Content Production And Distribution”.
Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), in collaboration with the Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON), together with industry representatives from Electronic Media Owners Association Of Nigeria (EMCOAN), the Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN), and the Independent Broadcasting Association is convening a critical summit from Tuesday, 22 March and Wednesday 23 March 2022, in Abuja, Nigeria.
