The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy has opened applications for its renowned film and television training programme, set to begin in October 2022.
The programme is open to all emerging filmmakers with some industry experience or a relevant post-school qualification.
The training programme incorporates film studies such as directing and sound design, with the business of film, as well as workplace experience on Africa Magic and SuperSports.
The 12-month fully funded programme is open to filmmakers from Ghana and Nigeria for the West Africa Academy.
West Africa Hub Academy Director Atinuke Babatunde said, “This is an exciting opportunity for African film and TV content creators.”
“The African continent is rich with stories that need to be told and documented with a set of skills and passion that only a programme such as the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy can provide to young filmmakers. I am delighted to be a part of this journey,” Babatunde stated.
With over 20 years of experience in the industry as well as a reputable record with M-Net through Africa Magic from 2014, Babatunde will lead the Class of 2023.
As part of the training programme, all students will receive hands-on training experience from the Academy’s partnerships, including the Henley Business School, the New York Film Academy (NYFA), Dolby and Canon.
Previous participants had the opportunity to work on United Nations’ Verified campaign and presented various projects to the Partners Against Piracy (PAP) and Creative Development on a climate change campaign.
Applications for the training programme opened on 9 May and will close on Friday, 3 June 2022.
