Alex Okyere, the managing director of MultiChoice Ghana, has added his voice to the call for government to support the film industry.
In an address at the third edition of Graphic Showbiz Forum themed, “Future of Ghana Movie Industry, Bright or Bleak?”, Okyere said the government can provide support in the form of tax incentives, grants, and the creation of an enabling environment for more investment in the sector.
” There is also the opportunity for educational institutions to design upskilling courses in film production, acting, distribution, promotion and general film studies for current players in the sector,” he stated.
He, however, mentioned that it will equally take a concerted approach from all stakeholders to help the movie industry in Ghana to reach its full potential.
According to organisers, the aim of this year’s Graphic Showbiz was to discuss how Ghana can stay current with trends like the expansion of the need for content and solve obstacles to higher potentials.
The panellists were Peter Sedufia, film producer/ director and CEO of OldFilm Productions; Actor Prince David Osei; George Bosompim; Ivan Quashigah, Film producer and Afua Kissi-Nyame, Head of Marketing, Multichoice Ghana.
