Monica Juma is a journalist based in Kenya’s capital Nairobi. Working for the public broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation in the television Programmes department.
Monica began her career as a TV and Radio announcer. She’s currently involved in television productions and programme scheduling within the public broadcaster’s department. A graduate of mass communication from the Presbyterian University of East Africa in Nairobi, Kenya she has a wealth of experience in programming and scheduling spanning over 10 years.
Monica is currently the Chairperson Women in News –Kenya chapter, which has over a hundred members. WIN has been in the forefront leading in the campaign to educate and sensitize journalists on matters related to gender equality and inclusivity, sexual harassment, leadership training, coaching and mentorship, She also happens to be a trainer of trainers in Gender equality with WIN.
She is an active member of the International Association of Women in Radio and television IAWRT, a member of the Media Council of Kenya, MCK and a member of KICTAnet, Kenya’s ICT stakeholder on matters relating to crafting policies and regulations and a think tank for issues relating to internet security and data information.
