Africa’s Broadcasters To Examine Regulatory Outcomes For A Converged Media Ecosystem
Industry Conference

Across Africa, broadcast and media regulatory institutions are grappling with the pace of change. The existing regulatory frameworks were primarily designed for traditional broadcasting, often lacking provisions for digital media’s unique challenges and opportunities.

As the Broadcast And Digital Media Convention – West Africa 2024 approaches on 14 – 15 August 2024 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, it presents a unique opportunity for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders. This year’s theme, “Broadcasting and the Political Economy of Content Production in the Digital Age: The Nigerian Perspective,” is not just timely and pertinent but also has the potential to significantly shape and influence the future of the media landscape.

Co-located with the 1st Annual National Conference of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters and convened by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), this event promises to be a pivotal moment for the future of broadcasting and digital media in West Africa. It underscores the crucial role of collaboration in shaping the industry’s future, and your active participation is key to its success.

Commenting on this, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose, the Executive Secretary for the Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON), said, “As we stand on the brink of a new era in broadcasting and digital media, the importance of effective regulatory regimes cannot be overstated. This industry meeting will set the stage for a future where regulations are as dynamic and innovative as the industry they govern. By embracing flexibility, inclusivity, and collaboration, we can ensure that the media landscape of tomorrow is vibrant, equitable, and sustainable.”
