A delegation from the Emirates News Agency (WAM) led by Director-General Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi recently visited Kigali, the capital of the Republic of Rwanda. The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities for cooperation with several prestigious media organisations.
During the visit, WAM signed agreements for cooperation and news exchange with several entities, including The New Times newspaper, IGIHE, a multimedia company based in Rwanda, the African News Agency (ANA), and Royal FM, which is owned by Mount Kigali University, according to a recent report by WAM.
The delegation also engaged in discussions with officials from the respective media faculties of the Rwanda Broadcast Agency, Mount Kigali University, and the University of Rwanda. These discussions focused on fostering bilateral media cooperation and relations, facilitating knowledge transfer and cultural exchanges, and organising joint training initiatives.
Director-General Alrayssi extended invitations to participate in the third edition of the Global Media Congress, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in November 2024. The GMC serves as a global platform for organisations, companies, stakeholders, and media professionals to exchange experiences, forge partnerships, and stay abreast of the latest developments and innovations in the media sector on a global scale.
Director-General Alrayssi emphasised WAM’s commitment to establishing effective media partnerships with relevant organisations worldwide. He underscored WAM’s pursuit of building a network of constructive and fruitful international relations, bolstering its presence on the regional and international stage as a dependable source and esteemed news reference.
