Nigeria: MTN Faces Legal Challenge Over Data Mismanagement Claims
News & Reports

Nigerian consumers have launched a class action lawsuit against MTN Nigeria, alleging widespread issues with unexplained data usage and rapid depletion of data allowances. The situation gained momentum following a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), where a user expressed their determination to take legal action against the telecom giant, citing evidence of unusual data consumption patterns.

This post resonated with many others who have experienced similar issues, prompting a surge of support for the legal initiative. A Google Form was circulated widely to compile the names of affected users, who reported concerns, including false data top-ups and exorbitant charges that seemed unjustified.

As frustrations mounted, many users compared data pricing and usage in Nigeria and those in other countries, amplifying their calls for justice. The conversations on social media reflected a mixed bag of reactions, with some expressing hope for meaningful change while others remained sceptical about the potential outcomes of the lawsuit.

With public interest continuing to rise, the pressure is now on MTN Nigeria to address these mounting allegations. However, the telecom company has not yet provided an official response regarding the claims made against it. Consumers watch closely as the legal battle unfolds, hoping for a resolution ensuring fairness and accountability in the telecommunications industry.
