The 5th Edition of the OTT Streaming Summit – Africa 2025 officially commenced in Cape Town, South Africa, on 18 February 2025, bringing together media professionals, technology innovators, and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming services across the continent.

The summit opened with remarks from Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, Mr Stanley B. Similo, President of the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA), and Mr Lungile Binza, Chief Operating Officer of SABC. Their insights set the stage for two days of discussions focused on transforming Africa’s digital media landscape.

In his opening remarks, Mr Benjamin Pius highlighted the explosive growth of OTT platforms in Africa. “Digital streaming is redefining content consumption habits across the continent. This summit serves as a crucial platform to address the challenges and opportunities that come with this digital shift,” he said.

Mr Stanley B. Similo underscored the role of collaboration in ensuring sustainable industry growth. “The success of OTT in Africa depends on strong partnerships between broadcasters, regulators, and digital service providers. We must work together to develop strategies that enhance accessibility and affordability,” he stated.

The summit’s agenda includes expert-led panel discussions, technical workshops, and networking opportunities, covering topics such as CTV (Connected TV) advancements, addressable advertising, FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) services, and strategies for expanding OTT access in Africa.

With OTT services becoming an integral part of Africa’s media evolution, the OTT Streaming Summit – Africa 2025 will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of streaming on the continent.
