Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is set to introduce its Max streaming service to seven Asian markets next month, expanding its availability to over 72 markets. Starting November 19, 2024, viewers in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong will soon have access to popular content from HBO, Discovery, the DC Universe, Harry Potter, and Cartoon Network.
The company’s move follows its projection of adding over 6 million subscribers to the Max streaming platform in the third quarter. After relaunching its streaming service in May 2023 with expanded programming offerings, Warner Bros Discovery extended Max to Europe in May. Max offers premium content from HBO and various programs from HGTV, the Food Network, the Discovery Channel, and more.
JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games at WBD expressed excitement about expanding Max’s reach in Asia, stating, “Max brings together unparalleled quality content from iconic brands like HBO, Discovery, the DC Universe, Harry Potter, AFN, and Cartoon Network, as well as Hollywood blockbusters all in one place.”
With previous launches in North America, Latin America, and Europe, the upcoming Southeast Asia rollouts will bring Max’s reach to 72 markets. WBD also plans for further launches in Asia in 2025.
