The second day of the OTT Streaming Summit – Africa 2025, hosted at The Capital 15 On Orange, Cape Town, delivered insightful discussions and presentations on the evolving digital streaming landscape. The day’s agenda focused on technological advancements shaping content creation and delivery, emphasising Artificial Intelligence (AI) and next-generation broadcasting solutions.

The day commenced with a compelling keynote address by Mr Wissam Sabbagh, CEO of Mangomolo, titled AI’s Transformative Impact On Content Creation. His presentation shed light on how AI is revolutionising the media industry, from automated content production and personalisation to enhanced audience engagement and analytics. He elaborated on AI-driven tools that optimise video production workflows, reduce costs, and improve content recommendations, making them more relevant to regional audiences.

Sabbagh emphasised the role of machine learning and predictive analytics in shaping the future of OTT platforms. He noted that AI is enhancing production quality and redefining monetisation strategies by enabling hyper-targeted advertising and subscription models tailored to user preferences.

Following this, Mr Alex Paugam, Director at Harmonic, took the stage to present the latest advancements in streaming technology and content delivery. His session explored how AI-powered compression algorithms, cloud-based workflows, and dynamic ad insertion are redefining video streaming efficiency. Paugam also highlighted Harmonic’s cutting-edge solutions that enable broadcasters and OTT platforms to deliver high-quality, low-latency content with reduced bandwidth requirements.

A key takeaway from Paugam’s discussion was the role of cloud and edge computing in ensuring seamless streaming experiences for audiences across Africa, where connectivity challenges remain a significant concern. He stressed the importance of adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR) and AI-assisted encoding in delivering premium video content to diverse audiences across multiple devices.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa and event convener. Pius expressed gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and industry leaders for their participation and contributions in shaping Africa’s digital streaming future.

He extended a special vote of thanks to the event’s partners and sponsors, including Sentech, Mangomolo, immedia, Harmonic, Workflowlabs, Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) S.A.G.E, and the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) for their unwavering support and commitment to fostering innovation in Africa’s broadcasting and OTT sector.

As the curtains close on the 5th Edition of the OTT Streaming Summit – Africa, industry stakeholders remain optimistic about the future of content creation, AI-driven media strategies, and technological evolution in Africa’s rapidly growing streaming landscape. The momentum gained from this summit is expected to fuel further innovation and strategic partnerships in the coming years.
