Nollywood is gearing up for the global theatrical debut of its thrilling new crime drama, Red Circle, which will premiere in cinemas across Nigeria on June 6, 2025. Produced by Nora Awolowo and Abdul Tijani-Ahmed at Rixel Studios, this film features an impressive ensemble cast. It promises a captivating mix of suspense, action, and a raw examination of power dynamics and corruption in contemporary Lagos.

Central to the storyline is Fikayo Holloway, an investigative journalist portrayed by Folu Storms. Fikayo enters a perilous realm as she uncovers a chilling network of secrets intertwined with a dominant crime syndicate in the city. Her relentless quest for truth leads her to an enigmatic businessman who orchestrates a world of corruption, wealth, drug trafficking, and even murder from behind a veil of secrecy. As she delves deeper, Fikayo’s determination to expose the truth threatens not only her safety but also the well-being of her loved ones.

With its gripping narrative, Red Circle aspires to set new benchmarks for crime thrillers within Nollywood, enhancing the genre’s impact in the film industry.

“This film is a labour of love,” expressed producer Nora Awolowo, sharing her enthusiasm for the project. “We have invested a tremendous amount of effort into crafting a cinematic experience that is both thrilling and relevant to social issues. We are eager for audiences to witness Red Circle on the big screen.”

The film is directed by the acclaimed Akay Mason, who has brought Abdul Tijani-Ahmed’s script to life. With Awolowo and Tijani-Ahmed at the helm, the film is well-positioned to be one of the standout releases in Nollywood this year.

Red Circle showcases a stellar cast, headlined by Folu Storms, and includes talents such as Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Omowunmi Dada, Mike Afolarin, Ruggedman, Debo Macaroni, and others.

Director Akay Mason emphasizes that Red Circle transcends the typical crime thriller. “This film is a narrative about truth, power, and the hazards that come with revealing secrets that some would go to great lengths to conceal,” he stated. He also highlighted the film’s ambitious visual storytelling, assuring viewers of a compelling viewing experience. “Prepare for a visual and psychological journey; Red Circle is not just visually stunning, but it also resonates emotionally,” he added.

With a robust marketing strategy and a carefully planned global rollout, Rixel Studios aims to elevate Red Circle within the international film landscape in partnership with Nile Distribution. The distributors have announced that presale tickets will be available soon, alongside exclusive early screenings in select cities.

As Nollywood continues to redefine itself, Red Circle exemplifies the industry’s expanding aspirations, offering a thrilling, socially pertinent, and visually striking narrative for audiences around the world.

Red Circle arrives in cinemas on June 6, 2025.
