Broadcast Media Africa has learned that South Africa’s public broadcaster, the SABS, is partnering with Brandsphere Media to enhance its advertising capabilities.
Piwe Motshegoa, who previously led sales for general entertainment at MultiChoice’s DStv Media Sales division until June 2024, has taken the helm as CEO of Brandsphere Media.
While the SABC’s ad sales team will continue their efforts to secure commercial advertising revenue for the struggling broadcaster, Brandsphere Media will assist by securing content sponsorships and developing “tailored advertising strategies.”
“The partnership between Brandsphere Media and the SABC represents a strategic initiative to broaden reach and boost impact, targeting solutions for advertisers in the video entertainment sector,” the SABC stated.
The two organisations aim to empower brands to engage meaningfully with South Africa’s diverse, multicultural audience. This collaboration places Brandsphere Media in a prime position to provide brands with unparalleled access to the SABC’s varied viewer base, allowing for genuine connections with millions of South Africans.
Piwe Motshegoa highlighted that Brandsphere Media is a partner for brands looking for unique and effective storytelling methods while reaching the diverse audiences represented by the SABC.
SABC CEO Nomsa Chabeli emphasised that this collaboration with Brandsphere Media will create fresh opportunities for innovation in advertising sales.
“We firmly believe that this partnership positions the SABC for long-term sustainability and presents significant revenue growth prospects,” Chabeli remarked.
“It also encourages brands to take advantage of the SABC’s unique offerings, delivering inspiring and empowering content across diverse platforms and devices throughout South Africa.”
