A new season of Celebrity MasterChef South Africa is set to premiere following the conclusion of the 5th season of the beloved food competition series produced by Primedia Studios for SABC3. South African celebrities will showcase their culinary skills starting Saturday, 30 November, at 20:30.

This upcoming season marks only the second edition of Celebrity MasterChef SA on South African television. The first season aired back in 2015, between the third and fourth seasons of MasterChef SA on M-Net, and it took place nearly a decade after the inaugural celebrity season, which was won by Chris Forrest.

Graeme Richards, host of the Expresso morning show, actor Siv Ngesi, and singer Holly Rey are among the contestants this season. They will compete against time and creativity, crafting dishes using ingredients sourced from the Pick n Pay pantry in their respective kitchen stations.

The celebrity chefs will film their challenges on a meticulously designed set at Atlantic Studios in Montague Gardens, Cape Town, built specifically for MasterChef SA. Contestants will also compete throughout the competition to win money for various charities.

To help offset production costs, this localized version of the Banijay format was filmed a few months ago, immediately following the completion of the fifth season. This approach is reminiscent of the first Celebrity MasterChef SA season, filmed concurrently with the third season.

After Celebrity MasterChef SA, viewers can look forward to a new sixth season of MasterChef SA on SABC3, featuring South African home cooks.

The current season of MasterChef SA will conclude its fifth instalment this coming Saturday night on SABC3. Either Bridget Mangwandi (20, a consumer science student from Bloemfontein and the youngest contestant this season), Chanel Brink (34, an online foodie content creator from Johannesburg), or Nabila Shamshum (23, a school secretary from Johannesburg) will emerge as the winner.
