Nigerian director Tosin Igho’s upcoming feature Suspicion will be released worldwide as a Prime Video Original on November 28. Produced by Divergent Films, the film introduces the audience to Voke, portrayed by award-winning actor Stan Nze (RattleSnake: The Ahanna Story) – a man wielding ancient Juju powers who finds himself entangled in a web of vengeance after his goddaughter’s murder.
Set against the pulsating backdrop of modern Nigeria, the film follows Voke’s descent into the shadowy world of black magic as he hunts for his goddaughter’s killers. His journey reveals a man torn between the allure of dark powers and their devastating consequences, reflecting the delicate balance between tradition and morality in Nigerian culture. As Voke uncovers layers of betrayal and faces unthinkable revelations, the story challenges global audiences’ perceptions of mystical storytelling.
In this Prime Video original, Igho crafts a narrative where ancient Juju powers become a lens for exploring profound ethical dilemmas rather than mere visual spectacle. This complex moral universe comes to life in a high-stakes revenge tale that merges traditional African mysticism with contemporary genre filmmaking, marking one of the streaming platform’s most anticipated African original releases of the year.
The film will be available to Prime Video subscribers in over 240 countries and territories. The stellar cast includes Omowunmi Dada, Kalu Ikeagwu, Uzor Arukwe, Shaffy Bello, Tina Mba, Ashafa’ Small Mummy’ Salamot, Francis Sule, Boma Akpore, Tony Akposheri, Esegine Orezi Allen, and multi-AMAA award-winning Richard Mofe-Damijo, who is also an executive producer on the film.
Tosin is known for Netflix’s Nigerian feature film Seven, which proved to be a landmark worldwide success. It earned seven AMVCA nominations and two wins, establishing Tosin as a force in African cinema.
