MultiChoice has introduced a significant update for its DStv Stream app aimed at improving user experience. Additionally, the price of DStv Premium has been reduced to its 2014 price, according to MultiChoice.
The update brings enhancements to the user interface, with live TV rows now playing channels as users browse. This allows users to preview content directly from the homepage and seamlessly transition into live TV viewing. Furthermore, live TV rows now display events, making it easier for users to see what’s happening now and what’s coming up next, particularly around major events such as sports games.
For new 12-month Premium contracts, DStv Stream customers can access an introductory price of US$39, resulting in a US$6 savings per month. This enables access to all live and video-on-demand content within each package via the DStv app, eliminating the need for a dish or decoder.
It’s important to note that the price drop does not impact current subscribers but applies to new 12-month contract sign-ups.
Marc Jury, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, expressed the company’s commitment to delivering customers’ desired streaming experience. The latest update has seen positive results from early user tests, with a 23% increase in the number of series and movies streamed on demand, a 17% increase in the number of titles added to watchlists, and an overall 8% increase in content watched on DStv Stream compared to the previous month.
New features on the DStv Stream app include dedicated homepages for all channels, sports tournament homepages, studio homepages, and the “Watch from Start” feature, which allows users to instantly go back to the beginning of any live event.
MultiChoice plans to update the service with more content in the coming months. The update is now rolling out across supported devices.
