As the 8th edition of Africa Broadcasters Convention 2024 approaches, hosted by the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in collaboration with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), the organisers have confirmed that a key thematic focus will be on advancing digital terrestrial broadcasting (DTT) services on the continent.

Scheduled for 08 – 10 October 2024 at The Swakopmund Legacy Hotel in Namibia, this convention is the consequential gathering of major industry stakeholders in Africa committed to advancing the broadcasting landscape across the continent. The flagship industry meeting is the platform for sharing insights, forging partnerships, and charting the course for the future of digital broadcasting in Africa.

Speaking about the forthcoming activities, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of BMA, said, “As delegates gather at the Broadcast And Digital Media Convention in Swakopmund, the discussions around optimising digital terrestrial broadcasting will undoubtedly highlight the critical role of reliable regional infrastructure. The challenges are significant, but so too are the opportunities. By prioritising collaboration, investment, and capacity building, Africa can create a broadcasting ecosystem that serves the needs of all its people, bridging the digital divide and enhancing the continent’s role in the global media landscape.”

“As the industry continues to evolve, the focus on reliable regional infrastructure will remain a cornerstone of efforts to unlock DTT’s full potential across the continent,” he concluded.
