The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has secured the free-to-air media rights to broadcast the 2024 Summer Paris Olympic Games. This agreement, granted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2017, also included broadcasting rights to the Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

SuperSport has obtained the pay TV media rights for South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Team South Africa is sending a formidable team of 149 athletes to compete in 21 sports at the Paris Olympics.

Excitement is brewing as the Games’ opening ceremony in Paris approaches. The public broadcaster has already released the broadcasting schedule on its social media platforms. South Africans can look forward to watching the Games on SABC’s traditional TV channels and through the SABC Plus streaming app. Additionally, the games will be aired on SABC’s radio platforms.

Concerns were raised after many South Africans missed out on the recent T20 World Cup matches. In light of this, Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has expressed a commitment to ensuring that all South African national team games will be broadcast live on SABC in the future.
