Reports reaching BMA suggest that MultiChoice Showmax has “successfully” migrated its users from the original Showmax to a newly launched platform running on technology from NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
It is understood that the old and new Showmax platforms would run parallel for some time to ensure a smooth migration process. However, according to BMA sources, customer experiences seem not to have gone as well as planned for Multichoice and Showmax with the customer migration process.
MultiChoice said that many of these devices were already no longer officially supported by the old Showmax and that customers who could no longer access Showmax on any of their devices could reach out to customer care for a refund on this month’s subscription.
Despite these issues, MultiChoice South Africa CEO Marc Jury said that close to 100% of users had been successfully moved to the new platform, which offers up to HD quality and 5.1 surround sound, more local and international hits than ever, and every single Premier League match, among other improvements. Jury thanked customers for their patience and understanding during the migration and said that MultiChoice was passionate about giving its Showmax customers the best streaming experience and service on the continent.
