MTN Rwanda has achieved a significant milestone, reaching a 4G population coverage of 84.5% nearly a year after obtaining its 4G licence. This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing digital access and improving the internet user experience across the country.

Mapula Bodibe, MTN Rwanda CEO, announced this at the just-ended 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

“We are approaching the one-year mark since obtaining our 4G license, which has enabled us to significantly increase digital access and improve the internet user experience across the country,” she informed the delegates.

The license was obtained in July 2023.

Bodibe stated that MTN Rwanda was exploring strategic alliances and aligning with the government’s digital services policy to enable connectivity and access for all to further accelerate the operator’s expansion.

Despite facing macroeconomic headwinds, the MTN Rwanda board of directors, led by Faustin Mbundu, is proud to announce that the company has exhibited remarkable resilience and achieved strong economic growth. This is a testament to our ability to navigate challenges and deliver results.

He said their 2023 Integrated Report showcased strong performance, tremendous community impact, and forward-thinking strategic initiatives.

Chairperson of the MTN Rwanda board of directors, Faustin Mbundu, reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to the Ambition 2025 strategy. This strategy is designed to build the largest and most valuable platforms and to lead digital solutions for Rwanda’s progress, ensuring our stakeholders understand our plans and direction.

MTN is the leading operator in the East African country, with an estimated 7 million users and a 62% market share as of July 2023.
