Broadcast Media Africa has learnt that Ebenezer Essoka has been appointed as the new chairman of MTN Cameroon’s board of directors.
His appointment comes after an election by the company’s group directors at a meeting held in South Africa last week. Essoka takes over from Colin Mukete, who had been serving as chairman since 2002. MTN Cameroon had successfully acquired Camtel’s mobile division during Mukete’s tenure.
Mcebisi Jonas, the Chairman of MTN Group, expressed his pleasure at the appointment and stated that Cameroon is one of the key markets for the company on the African continent. He also affirmed the company’s commitment to drive digital progress in the region for many years.
Essoka brings with him an MBA in Finance and a Diploma in International Business. He has also participated in senior executive development programs at prestigious institutions such as INSEAD, London Business School, Templeton College, Oxford University, and Cambridge University.
